Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Using centuries old watchmaking practices, craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch.
In vintage times the company made two distinct types of wristwatches - those signed Cartier throughout with major components made by different Cartier contractors and others that were complete watches created especially for Cartier by another premier watchmaker, such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Baume & Mercier, or Universal Geneve.

One of the highlights of this watch is it incredible original 18K gold Cartier deployment buckle, one of the more impressive ones we've ever had on a ladies watch. It is heavy and beautifully designed.
French Cartier watches are seen much less often than their Swiss and American counterparts and often have very appealing design.
Its silver dial is signed Cartier France and its case bears its original Cartier registration numbers. We really like its case. True older vintage Cartiers are some of the classiest and most elegant watches. Not the later ones from the 60's and earlier, which are of course very nice pieces. But the truly rare and more collectable and valuable ones like this from the 50's and prior. For such a small watch, it feels substantial and is much heavier than expected.
All of its parts are original to the watch. The case presents nicely and shows fairly light signs of polishing. The registration number has been polished a bit. Its dial was refinished in vintage times. Please inquire if you would like it freshly restored.
Our team of Master Watchmakers, one of whom has done authorized servicing work for Cartier's service center, has freshly disassembled the watch down to the last screw and serviced it and installed a new mineral glass crystal. It is keeping very accurate time.
It comes on a very nice original or correctly done brown cord strap with the watch's original 18K gold band holders. The watch is the complete package.
